Student return to school

From the Principal’s Desk

It’s hard to believe that the first nine weeks is over!  Our students have eagerly participated in all classes and hopefully their grades will reflect such.  We have the privilege of visiting every classroom several times a week and are truly amazed at the wonderful teaching and learning taking place.

NEWS IN A BRIEF:

Our Literacy Night  and the Book Fair was a huge success.

PARENTS, Please return the Emergency Information sheet for your child. Please keep contact information current in the office. (Telephone Numbers)

Drop Off / Pick Up

Students drop off time is from 8:00 a.m.—8:25 a. m. Students arriving after this time are marked tardy.  Parents must sign them in at the office.

How Can Parents Help Their Children Be

Successful

Parents are the first and the most important teachers their children will ever have.  Parents help children understand that school is the work of childhood.  Also, parents and caregivers play an important role in helping children see the connection between what they learn in school and what they do at home. Parents often ask what they can do to help their children be successful..  Listed below are a few examples that may help:

*Make sure children are on time and attend school every day, all day.

*See that children are well rested and well   nourished.

*Supervise homework and study time.

*Provide a quiet place for children to work, study, and read.

*Provide materials that children need for learning, such as reference books, paper, pens, and rulers.

*Keep an open line of communication with teachers; attend conferences and respond to notes and announcements from the school and the teacher.

Homework Tips for Parents

Make sure your child has a quiet, well-lit place to study.  Make sure all materials your child needs are available (Paper, pencils, and dictionary).  Help your child with time management.

Come By For a Visit!

We welcome visitors to our school!  To guarantee the safety of our students, all visitors (including volunteers) must first sign in at the office and receive a Visitor’s Pass before going to a classroom.  Please do not interrupt instruction during classroom visitation.  Unauthorized visitors are not allowed on campus at any time.  Students from other schools are not allowed to visit the campus.  Parents are welcome to “shadow” their children, but must arrange such a visit by calling the office.  The office must receive 24-hours notice before the time the parent would like to shadow the student.
